About The Position

The Orange County Visitors Bureau has an opening for a Temporary Visitors Bureau Assistant in the Franklin Street Welcome Center in Chapel Hill, for Saturdays. This is a temporary position, with hours from 10AM to 3PM (4PM on special event days five days a year, including FestiFall and Arts Events). This position will work at a Visitor Reception Desk, providing information and assistance to visitors. Work is performed under the general direction of the Visitors Bureau Director. Work location: 308 W. Franklin Street Chapel Hill, NC.

Requirements

  • Graduation from High School or General Educational Development (GED) test equivalency
  • One (1) year of customer service experience
  • Possession of or ability to readily obtain a driver's license valid in the State of North Carolina

Responsibilities

  • Open Welcome Center at 10AM on Saturdays
  • Display signage out front including welcome signs, flags
  • Provide information to visitors requesting information about the area
  • Help visitors navigate area by using wall maps, guides, restaurant info., merchant info and event calendars
  • Make calls to hotels as needed to gauge availability
  • Provide friendly, helpful service to those in need of help, including those with disabilities
  • Answer incoming telephone calls
  • Direct guests to public restrooms upon request
  • Direct guests to public telephone chargers upon request
  • Provide information on area public parking lots
  • Provide clerical and administrative support as assigned
  • Use MS Office program, primarily MSWORD to input information
  • Adhere to the department's safety rules and regulations
