About The Position

The Rutgers Institute of Nicotine and Tobacco Studies (formerly Rutgers Center for Tobacco Studies) is undergoing dynamic and transformative growth. The Rutgers Institute of Nicotine and Tobacco Studies is one of the nation's leading tobacco focused research centers and its faculty have received over $50 million in extramural funding over the past two decades. The Institute's efforts are focused on their mission of reducing and ultimately eliminating, tobacco-related morbidity and mortality. Five Centers or Programs currently operate at the Institute including a Tobacco Center for Regulatory Science, the Center of Excellence for Rapid Surveillance of Tobacco, the Tobacco Dependence Program, a Tobacco Industry Marketing Program, and a Tobacco Control Law & Policy Resource Center. The Rutgers Institute of Nicotine and Tobacco Studies, located in New Brunswick, NJ is seeking a Temporary Research Assistant. Under the direction of the Principal Investigator and designated project staff, the temporary research assistant will perform administrative and general research support for various research studies in the Rutgers Institute for Nicotine and Tobacco Studies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Experience or training in epidemiologic research methods
  • Must be able to work collaboratively in a team environment; have a high degree of emotional intelligence; excellent written and verbal communication skills; and strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Nice To Haves

  • A master's degree in epidemiology or a related field is preferred.
  • Experience with primary data collection and research in tobacco control is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Schedules, attends, and documents research team meetings.
  • Assists with development of data collection instruments.
  • Assists with management and analysis of study data.
