About The Position

The Skirball Cultural Center seeks an enthusiastic team player to serve as Temporary Registrar. Reporting to the Head Registrar, this short-term position is responsible for assisting with installation and the de-installation of the museum's robust schedule of rotating exhibitions. This is an on-site position running through May 2, 2025. Starting salary: $45/hour.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree, with coursework in Museum Studies, History, Art History, Archaeology, or closely related field preferred
• Excellent oral and written communication skills, with strong interpersonal skills and ability to develop collaborative relationships across the organization
• Demonstrated skills in condition reporting, artifact handling, and knowledge of museum best practices
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills and the ability to multitask
• Excellent IT tool proficiency and demonstrated ability to utilize Office 365 applications and PDF Expert

Responsibilities

• Create digital condition reports of incoming loans
• Track mounting and framing needs of loans to facilitate Preparators in readying loans for display
• Assist with exhibition installation
• Facilitate object handling with regard to installing, deinstalling, packing, shipping, and storage
• Work closely with other members of the Museum Department, including registrars, curators, preparators, administrative staff, and exhibition coordinators
