About The Position

Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation is excited to add Temporary Recreation Assistants to our team! These positions will be responsible for organizing and directing athletic reservations at Mecklenburg County’s Sportsplex located in Matthews, NC. The incumbents will monitor participants and spectators to ensure all facility guidelines are followed, perform maintenance and cleaning of athletic equipment, buildings, and grounds. In addition, they will partner with stadium event organizers and venue management to ensure proper preparation for events and will remain in communication with them to allow for effective facility operation. These positions will primarily work weekday evenings and weekends based on facility needs.
Facility Overview: The Sportsplex is located on 175 acres and consists of 9 synthetic turf multi-purpose fields, 2 grass multi-purpose fields, and a 5,000-spectator capacity grass multi-purpose Stadium. The facility hosts a variety of local, regional, and national youth, high school, college, and adult sports year-round, including tournaments and large Stadium events.

Requirements

• No experience required
• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Position requires a valid North Carolina or South Carolina Driver’s License and County Driving Privileges
• CPR/First Aid
• General knowledge of various computer applications including Microsoft Office Suite
• Recreational programming and instruction

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service and handling of funds at an athletic facility through telephone, emails, web site, social media and walk in patrons and customers for information, program registration, center daily use and rentals
• Collect fees and take registrations for athletic events and reservations
• Assist in maintenance of athletic equipment, buildings and grounds
• Assist with logistics and preparations for various athletic reservations and events at the Mecklenburg County Sportsplex
• Handle inquiries and complaints from public
• Ensure safety of participants/spectators
• Enforce facility rules and regulations
