The Temporary PE Instructor at Cornell University is responsible for teaching a variety of physical education courses to students, promoting a healthy and active lifestyle within the campus community. This role involves lesson planning, class instruction, and maintaining communication with students and staff, contributing to the overall mental health and well-being of students. The instructor will engage with a diverse group of students and provide in-depth education in their area of expertise.

  • Daily/weekly lesson planning
  • PE record keeping (taking attendance/Canvas upkeep)
  • Email correspondence and communication
  • 2-4 hours of class instruction per week
  • High School Diploma with at least 2-3 years of relevant experience
  • Strong competency in specified activity applying to teach
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Strong organizational and communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office, e-mail, and spreadsheets
  • Related certifications to area, if applicable (instructor cert, CPR/First Aid, etc.)
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs
  • Experience in and/or demonstrated commitment to supporting diversity, equity, access, inclusion, and wellbeing
  • Experience working directly with people from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds
  • Experience incorporating the perspectives of multiple communities, including communities of color
  • 3-5 years' experience teaching activity
  • Advanced certification in teaching area
  • Pay: $600-$1,200 per class depending on candidate experience and class certification requirements
