About The Position

East Central Energy (ECE) is looking for two Temporary Line Technician Interns to join our Operations team in Braham for the summer of 2026. Pay rate and PTO: The wage for this position is $44.50 per hour in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement. Earn 1 hour of PTO for every 30 hours worked. A Day in the Life You’ll work alongside experienced line technicians to support the construction and maintenance of overhead and underground electrical distribution lines. You’ll assist with fieldwork, follow established safety practices, and learn industry standards while contributing to projects that serve our members.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age and currently enrolled in or graduated from a vocational or technical program in power line studies.
  • Valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License, DOT medical card, and CPR Certification.
  • Understands and applies Rural Utilities Service (RUS) and National Electrical Safety Code (NESC) safety rules while adhering to cooperative policies and procedures.
  • Communicates clearly and professionally while demonstrating strong time management and organizational skills.
  • Upholds high standards of integrity and confidentiality.
  • Performs arithmetic, algebraic, and geometric calculations accurately in the field.
  • Maintains CPR certification and demonstrates an understanding of overhead line construction, electrical distribution system maintenance, and hot line work.
