About The Position

This is a temporary position (9 months or less) with a pay rate of $20.00 per hour. Employment starts on 02/17/2025 and ends on 11/15/2025. The mission of the Colorado Department of Natural Resources is to develop, preserve, and enhance the state's natural resources for the benefit and enjoyment of current and future citizens and visitors. Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW) aims to perpetuate the wildlife resources of the state, provide a quality state parks system, and offer enjoyable and sustainable outdoor recreation opportunities. The primary responsibility of this position is to support the State Invasive Species Program through maintenance of decontamination units, boats, and trailers. The employee will conduct inspections and decontaminations of watercraft at the Denver CPW Office, with state certification training provided. Work will be completed independently to inspect and decontaminate boats voluntarily coming to the office site, focusing on invasive species such as zebra/quagga mussels. The position will also involve public outreach on aquatic invasive species topics by providing printed materials to visitors.

Requirements

  • Strong mechanical background with preference for experience maintaining power washers.
  • Previous experience working in or managing a warehouse preferred.
  • Experience performing administrative duties outlined in the job description.
  • Experience with Microsoft Word and Google applications required.
  • Experience trailering a boat or power washer/decontamination units.
  • Experience working on repairing and maintaining boats and trailers preferred.
  • At least 6 months experience performing data entry with fast and accurate typing ability.
  • Good driving record is mandatory.
  • Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal) and the ability to multi-task are required.

Responsibilities

  • Support the State Invasive Species Program through maintenance of decontamination units, boats, and trailers.
  • Conduct inspections and decontaminations of watercraft at the Denver CPW Office.
  • Collect, preserve, and document possible ANS specimens brought into the office by customers.
  • Perform regular maintenance and proper use of the decontamination unit, boats, and trailers.
  • Handle administrative work such as filing, maintaining inventory, and managing the supply warehouse.
  • Prepare materials for field trainings and review/edit technical reports.
  • Participate in the development of maps, training materials, educational materials, and protocol manuals.
