About The Position

This is a temporary position (9 months or less) with a pay rate of $20.00 per hour. Employment starts on 01/2025 and will continue through 12/31/2025. The mission of the Colorado Department of Natural Resources is to develop, preserve, and enhance the state's natural resources for the benefit and enjoyment of current and future citizens and visitors. Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW) aims to perpetuate the wildlife resources of the state, provide a quality state parks system, and offer enjoyable and sustainable outdoor recreation opportunities. The primary responsibility of this position is to support the State Invasive Species Program Manager through various administrative tasks, including accounting, bill paying, filing, maintaining inventory, answering phone calls, public speaking, preparing materials for field training, and assisting with watercraft inspection and decontamination. The position also involves public outreach on aquatic invasive species and requires collaboration with the Program Manager on various tasks.

Requirements

  • B.S. in natural resources/botany/fisheries/wildlife or at least 1 year completed coursework toward a degree in the field.
  • Previous experience performing administrative duties.
  • Previous experience performing technical writing, editing, and document management.
  • Previous experience writing and analyzing surveys and survey data.
  • Previous experience with customer service.
  • Experience with Microsoft Word applications and Google.
  • Experience with ArcGIS preferred.
  • At least 6 months experience performing data entry with fast and accurate typing ability.
  • Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal) and the ability to prioritize and multi-task.

Responsibilities

  • Support the State Invasive Species Program Manager through administrative work.
  • Perform accounting, bill paying, filing, and maintaining inventory.
  • Answer phone calls and engage in public speaking.
  • Prepare materials for field training.
  • Load and unload vehicles.
  • Review and edit technical reports.
  • Participate in the development of maps, training materials, educational materials, and protocol manuals.
  • Assist with watercraft inspection and decontamination.
  • Provide public outreach on aquatic invasive species.
  • Collect, preserve, and document possible ANS specimens.
