ABOUT YOU As a Temporary Heavy Equipment Operator (Bargaining Unit, Local No. 25), you lead with safety, mechanical savvy, and steady judgment, bringing sharp situational awareness and the stamina to deliver in all weather while keeping operations safe and reliable. You follow procedures with precision, document work accurately, and care for equipment so it’s always ready. You communicate clearly with coworkers, tenants, and the public, staying calm, courteous, and solutions focused during emergencies. Dependable and adaptable, you act with integrity, support the team, and take initiative to spot issues early and resolve them before they impact airport operations.

Requirements

  • 5 years airport related experience required
  • Massachusetts CDL A and hoisting license
  • Ability to read; basic oral, written and mathematical skills. Includes manual skills and the ability to operate machinery required.

Responsibilities

  • Operate heavy equipment and machinery—including plows, sweepers, loaders, tractors, de‑icing equipment, and other tools—and perform basic preventative maintenance.
  • Maintain the airfield and grounds by cutting grass, performing landscaping, removing debris, painting markings, and completing minor building, roadway, and signage repairs.
  • Perform routine maintenance and custodial tasks, including cleaning common areas, responding to spills, securing work areas, and reporting needed repairs.
  • Clean and maintain restrooms, restock supplies, assist customers and tenants, and respond to emergencies and escort assignments in accordance with airport procedures.
