About The Position

As an FSQA Specialist, you will be responsible for completing projects/reports assigned by the QA Director and/or senior management team. This role requires a high level of coordination between departments and excellent project organization skills. The FSQA Specialist will need to review and maintain food safety documents, line studies for ongoing improvement and compliance with regulatory requirements. This position also requires participation in the new product launch and communication of outcomes to the senior management team. This is a temporary contract role expected to last approximately 6 months. The duration may be shorter or extended depending on business needs and performance. This is a direct hire with the company.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Food Science/Technology/Microbiology, Animal Science, Engineering or related field
  • Food Safety certification: HACCP, ServSafe Manager certification or equivalent
  • Knowledge of food safety, food microbiology, manufacturing processes, food regulations, sanitary design and quality management
  • Experience in nutrition generating software is a plus
  • Computer literate with proficiency in, but not limited to: Microsoft Office Applications, Visio, etc.
  • Ability to work and interact effectively with other departments in the organization
  • Ability to work in a multicultural environment with respect and sensitivity for diversity

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate and maintain food safety documents
  • Maintain abreast of current and evolving food safety considerations and best practices
  • Provide and apply knowledge (data, literature, etc.) and leadership to ensure that the processes are safe to produce food products
  • Review and update product labels to reflect the accuracy of the ingredient usage
  • Identify, develop, train, and support execution of food safety programs, controls, processes, and policies and procedures in alignment with industry best practices and regulatory requirements
  • Active food safety leadership in new product development initiatives
  • Interpret sensitive food safety-related technical information and provide objective science-based recommendations
  • Assist with weekends, holiday and outside working hours as needed
