About The Position

Commonwealth University of Pennsylvania invites applications for temporary faculty positions (full-time one semester, part-time one semester or part-time academic year) as needs arise in the Department of Exceptionality Programs. The Department of Exceptionality Programs houses Special Education programming at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. These programs include special education teaching certification and supervisory certification, as well as endorsements and continuing education in this field of study. Duties Based on the specific needs of the department at the time of appointment, a successful applicant must be qualified to teach all of the courses in the category of application. These categories include: Introductory Special Education Courses Special Education Methods Courses Student Teaching Field-based Placement Supervision Graduate Research Courses Special Education Supervisory Courses Candidates will indicate which category(ies) match their qualifications. Candidates may check all that apply. Course(s) may include : Introductory Special Education Courses- Introduction to Special Education, Data-Driven Instruction, Methods of Instruction Methods Courses- Positive Behavior Supports, Assessment for Individualized Evaluation and Instruction, Effective Supporting Students with Complex Instructional Needs, Literacy Instruction for Individuals with Exceptionalities, Inclusive Practices for High-incidence Exceptionalities PK-8 or 7-12. Student Teaching and Field-based Supervision- Practicum, Student Teaching, and Student Teaching Seminar. Graduate Research Courses- Special Education Research, Current Issues in Special Education Special Education Supervisory Courses- Curriculum Design for Inclusive Education, Administration and Supervision in Special Education The location for these temporary positions varies with the expectation of serving a multi-campus University within the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education.

Responsibilities

  • Teach courses in the category of application, which may include Introductory Special Education Courses, Special Education Methods Courses, Student Teaching Field-based Placement Supervision, Graduate Research Courses, or Special Education Supervisory Courses.
  • Teach Introductory Special Education Courses such as Introduction to Special Education, Data-Driven Instruction, and Methods of Instruction.
  • Teach Methods Courses such as Positive Behavior Supports, Assessment for Individualized Evaluation and Instruction, Effective Supporting Students with Complex Instructional Needs, Literacy Instruction for Individuals with Exceptionalities, and Inclusive Practices for High-incidence Exceptionalities PK-8 or 7-12.
