About The Position

The Department of Occupational Therapy at California State University, Dominguez Hills (CSUDH) invites highly qualified, motivated, and well-organized applicants for a pool temporary of part-time teaching appointments. CSUDH is seeking applications from candidates who can demonstrate experience in teaching and working with individuals from diverse backgrounds and contribute to the University's Mission, Vision, and Core Values. The temporary faculty pool is continuously open, and positions are filled based on student enrollment and authorized funding. Candidates may need to be available to begin teaching on short notice. The Fall term begins in late August and ends in mid-December; the Spring term begins mid-January and ends in mid-May. Opportunities for teaching during the Summer Sessions may also be available.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's degree in the field relevant to the curriculum or related discipline.
  • Preference will be given to candidates with prior teaching experience at the college or university level and who can furnish evidence of strong teaching.

Nice To Haves

  • A Master's degree in the field relevant to the curriculum or related discipline.
  • A PhD, a Post-professional OTD, or extensive professional experience is required for teaching upper-division core courses (300- or 400-level).
  • Applicants must have experience in teaching undergraduates from diverse ages, socioeconomic, cultural, and academic backgrounds.

Responsibilities

  • Promote the University's mission, vision, and core values
  • Adhere to CSUDH Policies and Procedures including all Guidelines stated on the University Faculty Handbook
  • Develop course syllabus on assigned course/s and develop appropriate course evaluations and learning activities that meet course objectives, program learning outcomes, and accreditation requirements
  • Provide up-to-date occupational therapy course content in line with current professional trends and practice demands
  • Implement appropriate instructional methods and technology that enhance student learning outcomes
  • Maintain office hours and be accessible to students, faculty, and staff
  • Provide timely, appropriate, and constructive student feedback that elicit critical thinking, enhance clinical reasoning, and promote professional development
  • Contribute to curriculum development and the department strategic plan goals
  • Participate in faculty meetings as well as department and university events
  • Participate in evaluation processes that determine instructional effectiveness
  • Prepares and submits instructional records, reports, and grades according to university policy
