About The Position

The Psychology department offers rigorous empirically focused undergraduate and graduate degree programs, giving students a strong background in the scientific study of human behavior and consciousness. The department seeks qualified candidate(s) to teach undergraduate courses such those listed below. Courses include: PSYCH 61, 66, 149, 160T, 162, 163, 164, 169, 171S, 175, 177, 178S, 283T Developmental Psychology. Courses include: PSYCH 101,155, 200T, 204, 205 Social and Personality Psychology. Courses include: PSYCH 152, 154, 156, 157, 250T, 255T School Psychology. Courses include: PSYCH 267, 274S, 277, 278, 279, 280, 281, 282, 284, 285, 286, 287 Miscellaneous Psychology courses. Courses include: PSYCH 10, 63, 151, 179I, 182 or other classes that may be identified as needed to fulfill educational goals of current students Temporary faculty members are responsible for adherence to and implementation of university and system-wide policies as directed per Academic Policy Manual 306 , paragraph 2. Instructors are responsible for the preparation, delivery, conducting, proctoring, and grading (as appropriate) lectures, office hours, homework assignments, quizzes, class projects, and midterm and final exams. All classes must be offered and meet as scheduled throughout the entire semester, in the mode assigned and listed in the schedule of classes (i.e. asynchronous, synchronous, in-person, or hybrid). Please be advised that an appointment is contingent upon budget and enrollment considerations and subject to order of assignment provisions in the collective bargaining agreement between California State University and California Faculty Association. These provisions state the “Order of Work,” or the order in which available courses must be assigned to faculty, starting with tenure line faculty and ending with new lecturer appointees. Appointees will be required to demonstrate eligibility to work in the United States (Fresno State is not a sponsoring agency for Temporary Faculty positions).

Requirements

  • A Master's degree in Psychology or related field with an emphasis in the field related to the course they are expected to teach.
  • Demonstrated commitment to working effectively with faculty, staff, and students from diverse ethnic, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
  • Successful teaching experience at the undergraduate level (including documented teaching assistantships or teaching internships)

Nice To Haves

  • A commitment to teaching excellence at the undergraduate level, which may be exhibited through prior teaching experiences and teaching evaluations or other evidence.
  • Successful teaching experience at the undergraduate level.
  • A Ph.D. in Psychology or related field
  • Experience with a closely-related subdiscipline of Psychology
  • Evidence of publications in scholarly journals
