About The Position

The Department of Graduate Education at California State University, Dominguez Hills (CSUDH), invites highly qualified, motivated, and well-organized, applicants for part-time teaching appointments. Graduate Education Programs are designed to provide knowledge and understanding of the basic foundations and theories of education, as well as advanced training in specific fields. The curriculum blends theory and practice to prepare students for advancement within their chosen field in education, public service, or private industry. The Department of Graduate Education at CSU Dominguez Hills includes a Master of Arts degree, a Master of Science degree, Credential Programs, and a Certificate program. The vision of the College is to maintain a model of collaborative urban educational excellence. In partnership with P-14 schools, we prepare deeply knowledgeable education professionals who are passionate about helping students reach their full potential and who make urban schools the places where children, families, and teachers thrive. ELJ Program faculty are committed to providing excellent preparation for executive leaders in the Los Angeles region who focus their practice on liberatory justice in education. The ELJ Program provides learning opportunities using an integrated model for P-12, Community College, University and Non-Profit learners. The inquiry-based, problem-solving curriculum designed to help education professionals learn by fully integrating their experiences in discussion, research, and fieldwork. The ELJ Program at CSUDH uses a cohort model to develop executive leaders with a deep commitment to a social justice agenda and instructional improvement through data-informed curriculum and instruction. The temporary faculty pool is continuously open, and positions are filled as needed, based on student enrollment and funding. Candidates may need to be available to begin teaching on short notice. We welcome applications from individuals who are experienced, and student centered to teach Doctoral level courses. The Fall term begins in late August and ends in mid-December; the Spring term begins mid-January and ends in mid-May. Opportunities for teaching during the Summer Sessions may also be available.

Requirements

  • Must hold a Ph.D or Ed.D in Educational Leadership or a closely related discipline.
  • Prior P-12, community college or university-level teaching experience and/or relevant industry experience.
  • Current knowledge and experience with policies and initiatives affecting education, including K-12, community college, and higher education.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively work with students from intersecting historically marginalized social groups using innovative instructional approaches and methods
  • Committed to ongoing professional development to maintain currency in the field, including effective use of technology
  • Candidates must demonstrate an awareness and have experience working with and understanding the needs of an adult learner population who are working professionals of great diversity – in age, cultural background, ethnicity, primary language and academic preparation – through inclusive course materials, teaching strategies and advisement.
  • Experience in teaching and working with colleagues from diverse ages, socioeconomic, cultural, and academic backgrounds.

Responsibilities

  • Teaching courses in the Educational Leadership for Justice (ELJ) Program
  • Collaborating and working closely with ELJ full-time and part-time faculty
  • Supporting students in writing and research responsibilities
  • Contribute to student success by providing consistent and effective support and guidance through teaching, modeling and mentoring. and serve weekly office hours based on assigned teaching unit load.
