This opportunity is available to current Australian Public Service employees and all eligible members of the community. Non-ongoing employment for a specified term may be offered for an initial period of up to 12 months, with the possibility to extend for a further 6 months, for a total maximum period of 18 months. The ABF works collaboratively across the Home Affairs Portfolio and with domestic and international partners to identify, deter, disrupt, detect and manage border risks. Irregular and Intermittent Employees (IIEs/Casual) are employed with the ABF at the APS2 classification and assist frontline operational teams to meet peaks associated with the movement of people and goods across the border. IIEs are predominantly required to work at international airports to alleviate pressure on existing teams during periods of increased flight departures and arrivals. They are also utilised to work in teams dealing Maritime, Air Cargo as well as general administration areas. The work undertaken is mainly outside of standard business hours.
