About The Position

Under the supervision of the Director of Africana Studies Division, the Temporary Division Coordinator for Africana Studies coordinates projects, events, initiatives and other responsibilities as assigned by the Division Director. The Temporary Division Coordinator provides some administrative support, executes a social media and outreach plan and serves as a resource to students. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS / PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Assist the Director with communications for all Africana Studies Spring Events and academic offerings, with a primary focus on digital media. Social Media Management: Upload and post content across all relevant social media platforms (e.g., Instagram, Facebook, Tik Tok). Take photos using the provided camera or mobile phone for event coverage. Digital Media Management: Manage all digital media assets for Africana Studies. Edit and upload video content to YouTube, ensuring high-quality content. Maintain and organize the Berklee photo Digital Asset Management (DAM) system. Content Creation & Design: Design flyers, posters, and other promotional materials using tools such as Canva and Adobe Premiere. File Management: Locate and organize photos from Google Drive, cameras, cell phones, and hard drives. Transfer all digital media assets to the Berklee photo DAM, Flickr, and Mediagraphs platforms. Video Editing: Edit livestream videos from concerts or events and upload edited versions to YouTube, Instagram, and TikTok. Processing Invoices: Assist in processing invoices for the division, ensuring accurate and timely submission for payment. Collaborate with the Finance or Administration team to track and reconcile division expenses. Fast-Paced Environment: Must be able to work effectively and efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements

  • Digital Media Skills: Proficiency in managing social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, TikTok) and creating engaging content, including video editing, photo editing, and graphic design using tools like Canva, Adobe Premiere, and mobile-based apps.
  • Organizational Skills: Strong ability to manage and organize digital assets across platforms such as Google Drive, DAM systems, Flickr, and Mediagraphs.
  • Event Coordination: Experience planning, organizing, and supporting events, including preparation, logistics, and on-site coordination.
  • Administrative Skills: Demonstrated ability to process invoices, track expenses, and collaborate with finance or administrative teams for reconciliation.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills for outreach, event promotion, and student support.
  • Adaptability: Ability to work efficiently and effectively in a fast-paced, changing environment, balancing multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Customer Service: Strong interpersonal skills and a positive, resourceful attitude when working with students, staff, and other stakeholders.
  • Technical Skills: Comfort using tools for digital file management, livestream editing, and video uploads to platforms such as YouTube, Instagram, and TikTok.
  • Team Collaboration: Willingness to support team members and contribute to the division’s goals with flexibility and professionalism.
  • Work Flexibility: Availability to work some evening events as required.
