About The Position

The Temporary Development Assistant will support the Parent Development team under Major Giving. This unit supports up to four major giving officers. Fundraising work focuses on managing the qualification, solicitation, and stewardship of individual giving from alumni, parents, and friends for gifts between $250,000 and $4,999,000. The Temporary Development Assistant works alongside fundraisers, university colleagues and external constituents to develop, support and maintain programs and activities consistent with securing philanthropic support for the University. Given the extensive independent contact with external constituents including alumni and parent volunteers, donors, and university officials, this position requires strong interpersonal and organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy; excellent oral and written communications skills; and complete discretion regarding the handling and storing of confidential data. Requirements

  • High school diploma required; bachelor’s degree preferred
  • 2–3 years of progressively responsible administrative experience in a professional environment
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and time-management skills with exceptional attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including advanced knowledge of grammar, punctuation, and proofreading
  • Effective phone communication and customer service skills
  • Accurate typing and data entry skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and working knowledge of Windows-based systems
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong judgment and discretion in handling confidential information
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as collaboratively within a team
  • Ability to work work in a fast-paced environment that will require flexibility to work beyond the regular hours of the workday when necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Preparing materials for fundraiser prospect visits
  • making travel arrangements
  • completing transmittal forms for pledges and gifts received
  • filing visit reports in Blackbaud
  • drafting gift acknowledgments
  • requesting research and pulling additional donor or prospect information from various systems
  • support the work associated with external constituents’ visits to campus, meetings and special events, often interfacing with the Programs and Events team, to maximize event effectiveness within budgetary guidelines
