About The Position

The Temporary Coordinator of Student Activities in the Office of the Dean of Students will be the first point of contact for campus organizations. This person provides oversight for major campus activities programming. The Temporary Coordinator is expected to be a facilitator, leader, and role model for the effective student development process during their time at Southwestern Oklahoma State University. This temporary position will have some administrative duties for the Office of the Dean of Students.

  • Commitment to university student development and success
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs
  • Ability to multi-task, organize, manage time effectively, and keep tasks appropriately prioritized
  • Ability to work with, assist, lead, and take directions from others in the interest of operating the Office of the Dean of Students to its optimal efficiency
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with all staff, students, faculty, and visitors in sometimes stressful situations
  • Work cooperatively and respectfully with both internal and external contacts

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Demonstrated experience with campus organizations and on-campus events
  • Demonstrate experience working with people from a variety of cultural backgrounds
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the President of SWOSU or their designee may find appropriate

Responsibilities

  • Provide support services to the department in a manner that professionally, cordially, and efficiently assists students, faculty, staff, and visitors
  • Front office management and intern oversight
  • Plan and implement multiple campus events, coordinating with other departments on campus as needed
  • Maintain confidentiality of highly sensitive information pertaining to student conduct, disability services, and financial aid appeals
  • Follow guidelines for providing information as outlined by FERPA
  • Oversee daily operations of Hilltop Central, the student engagement platform
  • Oversee annual campus organization events including the approval of each activity
  • Manage the correlation of “Application for Approval of Student Organization Activity” submissions
  • Oversee approximately 80 campus organizations/clubs and facilitate monthly Presidents’ Council information meetings
  • Coordinate student organizations’ fee allocations process
  • Represent or accompany the Dean of Students at recruiting events and new student orientation
  • Specific assignments are based on unit need and assigned by the supervisor which could include such things as hiring and supervising student workers, maintaining and balancing departmental budgets, including purchase orders and use of purchase card, assist with travel request, office supply ordering, and maintaining inventory, and training and mentoring student leaders associated with executing events and programs.
