About The Position

The Client Interpreter position at Metropolitan Family Service is a temporary role that will last from January 15, 2026, to April 30, 2026. The position requires providing interpretation services in Spanish for client reception and supporting volunteer tax preparers. The working hours will vary between 16 to 32 hours per week, with specific availability required from Wednesday to Sunday and Monday evenings. This role does not offer benefits and is designed to assist Spanish-speaking clients during the tax preparation process.

Requirements

• Fluency in English and Spanish (reading, writing, and speaking).
• Experience providing interpretation services.
• Excellent customer service skills and experience working with diverse populations.
• Ability to manage confidential and sensitive information.
• Experience working in team-dependent environments.
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and responsibilities.
• Excellent time management, prioritization, and organizational skills.
• Competency in using Microsoft Office and Google Suite.
• High School diploma, GED, or equivalent related experience.
• Experience working in diverse communities, particularly with Latino communities.
• Customer service experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct support to Spanish speaking clients during the client screening and intake process.
• Assist clients in completing required documents and intake information.
• Support volunteer tax preparers by ensuring information is understood by clients who speak Spanish only.
• Provide data entry support as directed.
• Offer resources and referrals to related services and provide appropriate Spanish language literature.
• Assist with other tasks as needed, including answering phone calls and setting up appointments.
• Staff and support other tax sites when needed.
