First Screening: 11/04/2025 POSITION: Temporary Bilingual Instructional Paraeducator LOCATION: Captain Gray Elementary HOURS: 6.00/day Monday, Tuesday, Thursday & Friday 4.00 on Wednesday's 4.00 on Early Release Days 1.00 per day, Monday - Friday TEMPORARY duty assignment. TEMPORARY TIME IS SUBJECT TO CHANGE ANNUALLY 180-day calendar SALARY: $21.38 - $23.72 Salary Schedules AA Degree - $0.50/hour extra BA Degree $0.75/hour extra NEW HIRES ARE CONDITIONAL UPON PASSING A FINGERPRINT SCREENING

Requirements

High School Diploma or equivalent, required.
Bilingual and/or Biliterate (Spanish), required.
Must meet one or more of the following:
Associates degree (AAS, AA) or higher;
Earned 72 college quarter credits or 48 semester credits in college level 100 or higher courses;
Passing score on the Educational Testing Service (ETS) paraeducator assessment.
Valid First aid and/or CPR card for infants and children or willing to obtain.
Passing score on district administered bilingual test.
Knowledge of general office equipment such as computers, copiers, laminators, telephones, scanners, paper cutters, book covering materials, and/or step ladders.
Knowledge in proper use of English in both written and verbal forms, use of correct grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
Maintain detailed and accurate records.
Skill in operating standard office equipment including basic computer applications.
Ability to sit and/or stand for prolonged periods.
Understand and conduct verbal and written instruction.
Knowledge and/or experience working with children with behavioral disabilities.
Knowledge of de-escalation strategies.
Knowledge of car seats, BESI seats and/or seat belts.
Ability to securely strap in wheelchair(s).
Knowledge of general cleaning supplies and usages.
Ability to establish a plan to address student behavior.

Nice To Haves

Prior paraeducator experience, college, or on-the job experience preferred but not required.
Experience working with students who are special needs preferred but not required.
Prior experience in a K-12 school setting preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

Administers first aid to provide emergency care.
Provide one-on-one instruction or group instruction.
Assist classroom teacher and/or building administrator(s) with classroom management.
Assist with preparing materials needed to conduct lessons.
Provide support or supervision of students, including but not limited to arrival and/or departure, cross walk duty, transit to bus, transit from bus, recess, breakfast/lunch time, hall monitoring, unloading and/or loading wheelchair bound students.
Assist with reporting misconduct on school property and/or school bus route(s).
Assist with light cleaning, issuing of equipment for necessary activities, setting up, taking down and/or supervising students during age-appropriate games/activities.
Adhere to District safety policies and/or procedures as well as required program guidelines.
Attend and complete annual required training hours for paraeducator certification.
Provide support, supervision and/or assistance administering tests, quizzes, exams, or any assessment as directed by teacher for the purpose of evaluating student progress or learning.
Maintain accurate and efficient student records within student information management system(s).
Translate verbal and/or written information for the purpose of assisting students, district personnel, parents and/or guardians. (Bilingual only).
Assist with needs related to diapering, tube feeding, toileting, catheters, and/or lifting. Additional pay provided if performing these duties per CBA.
Participate in District meetings to communicate information and gain feedback and/or direction on a variety of issues.
Distribute documents and materials to appropriate staff, students and/or parents.
Assists with supervision of students to ensure a safe and productive learning environment.
Assist other personnel as may be required to support them with the completion of their work activities.
Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of the position.
Assist with contacting parents and/or guardians regarding student behavior and academic progress.
CPI trained or willingness to attend training.
