About The Position

The Temporary Associate Resource Scientist will assist in the design, implementation, analysis, and/or management of detailed environmental, cultural, and/or hydrologic activities to fulfill Company objectives and programs. Work may include analysis, modeling, and field investigations to support PSE's operations infrastructure. Under the direction of senior staff, this individual will conduct, review, and monitor assigned discipline activities associated with construction and operation of company energy facilities. The individual in this role will work in a diverse, cross-functional team environment. Additionally, under the supervision of senior staff, the Associate Temporary Resource Scientist will coordinate work with personnel from operations and other departments. The person in this role will be responsible for upholding the safety compliance standards inherent in PSE's operating and/or field procedures related to work responsibilities. Additionally, they will promote and support a culture of total safety. This person will ensure duties are performed in accordance with all regulatory compliance obligations.

Requirements

  • BS/BA in Environmental Science, Biology, Hydrology, Engineering, Anthropology, Mathematics, or similar, with one to three years' experience in the field or working with modeling tools (appropriate additional experience may be considered in lieu of degree).
  • Experience and proficiency with MS Office, including Excel and Access.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with conducting field efforts including biological monitoring, streamflow, and/or cultural management investigations.
  • Experience or familiarity with electric or gas industry.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with field investigations and programmatic monitoring activities.
  • Assist in the development of compliance reports, standard operating procedures, and documentation of resource management activities and monitoring procedures.
  • Conduct field work which may include biological monitoring, streamflow monitoring, physical data collection, and/or cultural management activities related to PSE's operation facilities.
  • Assist in consultation with regulatory agencies for PSE under the direction of senior staff and management.
  • Assist in the development of permitting and/or other regulatory approvals and conducts other administrative duties, in support of company programs and operations.
  • Assist in the supervision of consultants.
  • Perform and coordinate a variety of simple analyses and design in the plant and office settings.
  • Maintain and develop tools for managing daily and annual operating records for PSE's operations facilities.
  • Support analysis related to resource planning.
  • Establish and maintain relational database of input variables and develop data warehousing strategies for operational purposes.
  • Provide clear reporting and documentation of assigned activities.
  • Establish and maintain data QC and post-processing procedures for all field activities.
  • Provide support for other departmental administrative activities, initiatives, and projects.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
