About the position

The County of Riverside's Human Resources Temporary Assignment Program (TAP) is seeking a Temporary Assessor-Clerk-Recorder Technician Trainee. This full-time, temporary role is based in Temecula and is designed for self-motivated individuals with strong organizational skills and a willingness to learn. The position involves performing technical and clerical work under close supervision in various divisions of the Assessor-County Clerk-Recorder's Office, including examining records, conducting civil marriage ceremonies, and assisting the public with inquiries. This entry-level classification provides initial training in essential duties and responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Retrieve, research, prepare, and provide certified copies of legal documents, Official Records, and Vital Records.
  • Assist and instruct the public in self-service research of Official Records via microfiche and archives.
  • Issue applications for Marriage Licenses and perform civil marriage ceremonies.
  • Review, verify, and accept legal documentation for certifying Notary Publics and other legal roles.
  • Research and update property assessment records, checking for accuracy and completion.
  • Prepare, compute, and enter changes to the tax roll.
  • Perform clerical tasks including sorting, processing, and filing documents and records.
  • Update property characteristics and attributes under supervision.
  • Assist the public and governmental agencies by answering inquiries on property tax assessments and related topics.
  • Review and scan Official Records and other documents for archival purposes.

Requirements

  • One year of clerical experience in a field related to the major functions of the County of Riverside's ACR.
  • Completion of 30 semester or 45 quarter units from an accredited college or university may substitute for the required full-time experience.
  • Knowledge of modern office practices and procedures, including filing and operating standard office equipment.
  • Ability to learn to review, understand, apply, and explain laws, regulations, and policies governing legal documents.
