About The Position

Works as an assistant to the Campus News Coordinator in all aspects of multimedia production and printed media. Trains a staff of up to 20 student employees. Focuses on layout and graphic design for printed Ke Alaka‘i magazines as well as digital graphics for social media and other projects. Works with photographers on all design and multimedia projects. Works with Marketing and Communications to meet Campus News and University goals.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Graphic Design or a related field.
  • Requires working knowledge of all Adobe Createve Suite programs, Final Cut, CMS/PHP web programs, Canva, etc.
  • Must be able to work independently and meet deadlines.
  • Must be able to teach others and workin a team setting.
  • Must have sound reasoning and ecision-making skills and unerstand the mission of BYU–Hawaii.

Responsibilities

  • Works with layout and design team to produce printed Ke Alaka'i. (85%)
  • Hiring and training student graphic designers in Adobe Creative Suite software.
  • Art director for semesterly production of Ke Alaka'i magazine.
  • Assist with graphics for video, multimedia and social media.
  • Works with graphics for projects as needed.
  • Helps set and track assignments and deadlines.
  • Oversees digital photography working with lead photographer. (15%)
  • Tracking assignments and deadlines.
  • Helping with Ke Alaka'i Website management as needed.
