Temporary Archaeological Field Technicians

The Opportunity: We have an immediate opening for temporary Archaeological Field Technicians to work in Arizona, based out of our Flagstaff office. What We Offer: Compensation – This position is paid on an hourly basis between $22 - $24 per hour, depending on experience and education. Per diem varies between $59-$74 per day for hotel-based projects, per 2026 GSA rates by county. Logan Simpson will provide single-occupancy hotel rooms for all hotel-based projects. Benefits – Temporary staff members are eligible for paid sick leave, 8 paid holidays, eligibility for a healthcare program through ACRA (American Cultural Resources Association), and for eligible temporary staff members, the firm offers a $150 field gear stipend and a retention bonus program. Your Key Responsibilities: Participating in archaeological excavation, monitoring, and pedestrian survey projects as a crew member, under the supervision of a field director or crew lead. Work will occur primarily in Arizona. What You'll Bring: A Bachelor’s degree in Anthropology or Archaeology and/or completion of an accredited field school. Education and/or experience in the U.S. Southwest. Experience conducting fieldwork in a cultural resource management setting. Preference will be given to applicants with at least one year of data recovery experience within the Northern Southwest. Ability to identify archaeological artifacts and features. Ability to work outdoors in extreme temperatures and in remote locations (camping is a possibility). Ability to walk up to 10 miles per day over steep terrain for extended periods of time. Capability and willingness to work 8-day field sessions. A willingness to work out-of-town. Proficiency with electronic devices such as smart phones and tablets for digital data collection. Ability to work cooperatively with crew members and supervisors. Possess a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.
Requirements
