About The Position

Temporary Administrative Assistant IV - 4 hrs/day - Stafford Primary School This is a temporary position to be filled as soon as possible and it will end June 30, 2026 . DEFINITION Under the supervision of a primary or middle school Principal performs a wide variety of office management and clerical tasks, including facilitating communications between supervisor, parents, and staff; manages files and other systems; collects and analyzes information; prepares oral and written reports; and performs related work as required. DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS Employees at this level serve as an informational liaison between the administrator, teachers, other district personnel, and the general public. Employees at this level are typically the classified employee with the highest level of responsibility for the operation of a primary school, middle school, or comparable office consisting of other classified employees. Employees at this level must exercise a high degree of independent judgment and professionalism. EXAMPLES OF DUTIES Maintains student records relating to attendance, discipline, and grading; acts as receptionist for the office; makes recommendations to principal regarding procedures and practices for office operation; receives, interprets, and prepares appropriate records of oral communication; and performs related office, bookkeeping, and clerical tasks; other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of: Business English, spelling, punctuation, and mathematics
  • Current office practices, procedures, keyboarding, and equipment
  • Use and navigate computer technology with high degree of proficiency
  • Perform word processing and other related software programs
  • Rules, regulations, procedures and functions of the district
  • Office management principles and ability to apply this knowledge to work problems.
  • Ability to: Read, write, and follow oral and written instructions with little supervision
  • Work independently on difficult clerical tasks
  • Perform word processing with speed and accuracy
  • Effectively and politely communicate with students, the public, and other employees
  • Establish and maintain harmonious relationships with students, fellow employees, and the general public
  • Maintain confidentiality in all phases of work, i.e. records, meetings, etc.
  • Must routinely lift up to 50 pounds unassisted and over 50 pounds with assistance
  • Complete all district required trainings
  • Experience: Three years of general clerical experience.
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent as required by Oregon Administrative Rules, Oregon Department of Education.
