About The Position

SUMMARY OF DUTIES Early walk-in and absentee mail-out worker needed for approximately 8 weeks surrounding every election. Working on election day/night is required. Must have computer skills and be able use of the state-wide voter registration system and follow Idaho State Election Law. The Early walk-in and absentee mail-out worker will be working directly under the Supervision of the Elections Administrator and the Bannock County Clerk of Courts, and must maintain a non-political decorum on all candidates and issues that appear on the ballot. Responsibilities include, but not limited to: Verifying that walk-in voters are registered to vote, at the correct address. Assisting electors who are not registered to vote, to register. Issuing ballots from the state voter registration system. Mail-out ballots to those that have requested one and verifying signatures. Receiving into the system all mail-out ballots that have been returned, voted and un-voted. Entering voter registration cards into the system. Answering phones and other clerical duties. Balancing ballots issued and signatures at the end of every day. Ensure all ballot cans and ballots are secured in the vault at the end of each day.

Requirements

  • Ability to pass required background checks, provide excellent customer service and act with integrity at all times
  • Must have previous experience with computer applications and basic mathematical skills.
  • Sufficient clarity of speech and hearing which permits the employee to discern verbal instructions and to communicate effectively on the telephone and in-person
  • Sufficient visual acuity that permits the employee to comprehend written work instructions, review, prepare, and organize documents and process them in a prescribed manner
  • Sufficient manual dexterity which permits the employee to operate a personal computer and other standard office equipment
  • Sufficient personal mobility, flexibility, agility, and physical reflexes, with or without reasonable accommodation, which permits the employee to lift or move office materials weighing up to 25 pounds, to sit and work at a keyboard for an extended period of time, and work in an office or other election environment.
