The Brandeis University Fine Arts Department is seeking a part-time Studio Art Technician to fill a two-month vacancy. Duties This position provides a safe, organized, and clean environment for students to create thoughtful and innovative works of art across all studio disciplines. The Temp Studio Art Technician works closely with the Studio Art Technician and studio art faculty to problem-solve and address the needs and issues that arise in an active and dynamic studio environment. While hours are somewhat flexible, ideal work days are Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. The hourly payrate for the position is $30. Required Skills and Qualifications Experience working in an art studio environment. Working knowledge of sculpture processes and a basic technical understanding of drawing, painting, printmaking, and/or digital media processes. Knowledge of and ability to implement safety protocols in an active art studio setting. Assist with installation and deinstallation of student exhibitions and, in coordination with the events and communication team, plan and execute exhibition openings. Ability to assist with the provision of supplies and to move large objects, materials, or artwork as needed. Strong organizational and communication skills, both in person and via email. Dependable, organized, and professional. Ability to work both collaboratively and independently, and exercise sound judgment in the event of unexpected situations. Willingness and ability to problem-solve and mediate challenging situations as they arise.
