About The Position

The University of New Mexico’s Gallup Branch, Liberal Arts & Education Division, anticipates hiring adjunct faculty to teach face-to-face and/or online lower division courses (1000/2000 Level) during the Spring, Summer, and Fall 2026 semesters in various areas. Possible courses include Introduction to Education, Children’s Literature, Educating Linguistically and Culturally Diverse Students, The Effective Classroom, Technology Integration in the Classroom, and Teaching Reading in the Elementary Classroom. The position is contingent upon need each semester as determined by student enrollment levels and course offerings. Instructors are responsible for all aspects of their classes, including content delivery, assignment development, grading, and assessment of student learning. Candidates will report to the division chair.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, Secondary Education, or a related field.
  • Three years of teaching experience at the early childhood or elementary education level.

Nice To Haves

  • PhD in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, Secondary Education, or a related field.
  • At least three years of college-level teaching experience.
  • Demonstrated commitment to understanding the rich and varied cultures of New Mexico.

Responsibilities

  • Teach lower division courses in specified areas.
  • Meet face-to-face with students during assigned times, which may include evenings or weekends.
  • Deliver course content and develop assignments.
  • Grade assignments and report grades.
  • Assess student learning as outlined by the division chair.
