About The Position

As an Engineering Materials Coordinator, you’ll play a critical role in keeping innovation moving. You’ll ensure engineers have the materials, tools, and equipment they need—when they need them—to develop models, prototypes, and test solutions. This is a hands-on, highly collaborative role at the intersection of engineering, procurement, and operations.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • 2–4 years of experience in materials coordination, inventory management, or procurement—ideally in an engineering, manufacturing, or lab environment
  • Experience with requisitioning processes (such as IPRs) and inventory tracking systems
  • Strong organizational skills with a sharp attention to detail
  • Ability to collaborate across teams including Engineering, Procurement, Materials Planning, and Operations
  • Proficiency with basic computer tools (ERP/MRP systems, spreadsheets, inventory platforms)
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and respond to time-sensitive engineering needs
  • Ability to lift, carry, and move materials and equipment as needed
  • Comfortable working across lab, warehouse, and production-adjacent environments
  • Willingness to train and become certified on turret trucks and other material handling equipment
  • Regular standing, walking, bending, and reaching required

Responsibilities

  • Partner with engineering teams to coordinate materials for prototypes, models, and lab activities
  • Assess material availability using internal inventory or external suppliers
  • Generate internal material requests (Blue Slips) and manage stock fulfillment through Production Stores
  • Create, submit, and track Internal Purchase Requisitions (IPRs) for materials, tools, and equipment
  • Collaborate with buyers and suppliers to secure competitive pricing and reliable delivery timelines
  • Maintain accurate records of incoming materials, storage locations, and distribution history
  • Manage and organize engineering inventory, including Engineering-to-Production Transfers (ETPs) and lab materials
  • Coordinate seamless material transfers to production in partnership with Material Planners
  • Support shipping and logistics for engineering materials and prototype equipment
  • Keep engineering labs clean, organized, and fully stocked for efficient workflow
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and supplies—ensuring consumables are always replenished
  • Safely operate material handling equipment (including turret trucks) following all safety guidelines
  • Uphold high standards for safety, organization, and material handling procedures
