About The Position

We are seeking a Telomere Center Project Manager who will develop and implement projects to enhance the operational and budgetary activities of the internationally renowned Telomere Center at Johns Hopkins. The Project Manager will monitor a $7M multi-year budget, oversee financial and clinical testing processes, and advance internal and external relationships and communications which are key components of the center’s research program. The Project Manager will lead timely and rapidly expanding projects that address high priority and sponsored activities. Our recent discoveries point to high impact opportunities to advance patient care for cancer and other patients around the world. The Project Manager will support, and collaborate closely with, the Telomere Center Director, to accelerate the strategic goals of the center in ways that align with the research, clinical and education missions of the School of Medicine. The position is responsible for overall coordination, status reporting, and stability of the financial components of a defined project(s). Will provide financial management throughout the lifecycle of project(s), starting with project initiation through the close-out process. Projects may focus on research, clinical practice, or business operations. The Financial Project Manager oversees the financial aspects of the project and continued process improvement activities.

Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree.
Five years of progressively responsible related financial and operations experience.
Demonstrated related advanced administrative skills, e.g. process improvement, basic data gathering and analysis, content creation, etc.
Additional education may substitute for required experience, and additional related experience may substitute for required education beyond a high school diploma/graduation equivalent, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.

Nice To Haves

Bachelor’s or master’s Degree in Health Administration, Health Information Management, or related field.
Project Management Professional Certification.
Familiarity with research and/or clinical operational processes.

Responsibilities

Serve as a senior member of a project team with oversight of one or more projects, each valued up to $10M.
Develop strong work plan budgets and budget notes in accordance with requirements in coordination with project team leaders.
Develops systems, reporting, and serves as a resource to involved financial staff.
Monitor inventory and purchases in financial systems and project management software.
Participate in close-out work plan and conduct all close-out activities assigned (e.g., develop close-out budget, review close-out budgets, pay all final invoices, close out contracts, etc.)
Provide oversight and may supervise project team members; provide input to the performance review of team members.
Other duties as assigned.
Define goals, timelines and objectives and implement operational projects.
Execute project plans, budgets, timelines and risk mitigation for projects and monitor and report on progress to the Director, team members, collaborators, funding agencies and other stakeholders.
Represent the Director and the center as necessary with faculty, staff, and collaborators within and beyond Johns Hopkins.
Align efforts of patient advocates/support organizations and develop externally facing resources that support expanding national and international clinical testing and services.
Track operations and clinical workflow of the Telomere Diagnostics Lab toward implementing continued process improvement in collaboration with the Director.
Monitor testing usage patterns for >200 utilizing institutions and make recommendations to enhance diagnostic yield and prioritize resource management.
Develop procedures for and coordinate the translation of new gene discoveries to clinical diagnostics platforms including communicating with national and international entities in collaboration with the Director.
Track billing and professional fee collections to support clinical faculty effort.
Create tools and methods to ensure dissemination of new knowledge to users, e.g. physicians and genetic counselors, and provide material about new testing indications in collaboration with the Director.
Gather and assess metrics and enhance clinical workflow efficiencies in laboratories to meet clinical demands in collaboration with the Director.
Maximize the externally-facing response to advance the clinical impact of discoveries including help with the organization of meetings and panels; contribute to the development and dissemination of guidelines and standards; create materials, generate timelines and assess success of milestones with internal and external stakeholders; increase information sharing with the scientific and clinical communities through publications and other media; provide information and data for grant submissions that build on discoveries.
Facilitate programmatic exposure and amplify awareness of the center’s work to enhance interest in and recruitment to clinical research studies.
