We are seeking a Telephone Medical Appointment Clerk/Consult Agent at Lincoln Center in San Antonio, TX. The position operates Monday through Friday between 6:30 a.m. and 4:45 p.m., with a 9-hour shift that includes a 1-hour unpaid lunch, not to exceed 40 hours per week. Position Summary The Telephone Medical Appointment Clerk/Consult Agent supports a high-volume healthcare call center. This role is responsible for scheduling appointments, managing patient communications, and ensuring accurate and timely handling of medical consults in a professional and customer-focused environment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED (or higher)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Strong data entry and computer skills
  • Minimum typing speed of 35 words per minute
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to multitask and coordinate across multiple departments
  • Strong customer service skills and professional phone etiquette
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently
  • US citizenship required

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a healthcare or call center environment
  • Familiarity with military health systems or electronic health records
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (required)

Responsibilities

  • Answer inbound calls and assist patients with scheduling, canceling, and rescheduling appointments
  • Make outbound calls to coordinate specialty referrals and primary care appointments
  • Verify patient eligibility and update demographic information in appropriate systems
  • Utilize electronic health record systems (e.g., MHS GENESIS) to manage appointments and consults
  • Process and track medical consults in accordance with established guidelines
  • Manage appointment cancellation requests and voicemail inquiries
  • Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with standard operating procedures
  • Deliver excellent customer service while adhering to medical and administrative protocols
