About The Position

Requirements

  • Must be actively enrolled in a degree-granting program at an accredited institution during the entire duration of the program.
  • Current class standing of sophomore or above (30 credits).
  • Must be authorized to work for any employer in the United States without requiring work visa sponsorship.
  • Must be available to work 16-24 hours per week from September 15, 2025 - April 17, 2026.
  • Must be willing to work in Universal City, CA.

Nice To Haves

  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above preferred.
  • Strong interest in news, journalism, and/or media.
  • Strong writing, time management, and interpersonal skills.
  • Academic background in Broadcast Journalism, Journalism, English, Communications, Media Studies, Political Science, or related fields preferred.
  • Experience working with a campus TV station, newspaper, or website.

Responsibilities

  • Assist assignment editors, show producers, package producers, writers, editors, and reporters in the newsroom.
  • Identify and pitch compelling stories, follow up on story leads, and support fact-checking and story development.
  • Find visual news elements and get clearances, identify story sources/experts, and pre-interview subjects.
  • Log breaking news events and assist in all manner of news gathering.
  • Work with an integrated digital news team to publish on TV stations' websites and social channels.
  • Write stories and publish in a CMS, clip reporter videos, and craft social posts for branded accounts.
  • Assist the Sales Marketing team with creating PowerPoint presentations, writing scripts, and performing research.
  • Coordinate and book guests for shows, assist with writing scripts, and create social media content.
