About The Position

Facilitates care of patients requiring continuous cardiac (telemetry) and/or pulse oximetry monitoring by continual observation the cardiac telemetry central monitoring system and equipment. Provides clerical support and communicates effectively. Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital seeks a Telemetry Technician for their Telemetry department responsible for facilitating care of patients requiring continuous cardiac (telemetry) and/or pulse oximetry monitoring by continual observation the cardiac telemetry central monitoring system and equipment. Provides clerical support and communicates effectively. QUALIFICATIONS: All job qualifications listed indicate the minimum level necessary to perform this job proficiently. Education: Minimum: Completion of dysrhythmia course through prior Telemetry Tech employment or completion of dysrhythmia course, with a score of 80% or higher, within 6 months of hire. Preferred: High School Diploma or equivalent. Certifications, Licenses, Registrations: Minimum: American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS). Technical Requirements: Minimum: Ability to use an electronic medical record. Years of Related Work Experience: Preferred: 1 year of patient care experience (i.e., PCT, nursing assistant, EMT) or successful completion of a nursing assistant/home health aide college course. Responsibilities This is not an exhaustive statement of duties, responsibilities, or requirements. Monitors and interprets accurately cardiac rhythms and pulse oximetry values of patients on telemetric equipment. Informs licensed caregiver of dysrhythmia and/or changes as they occur. Ensures that all alarms are on at all times with the appropriate parameters. (75%) Maintains integrity of the telemetry system and all equipment associated. Reports all malfunctions or needed adjustments of such equipment. (5%) Documents all EKG rhythm strip interpretations with patient?s room number, name, data, and the time of the strip was obtained per unit protocol. Documents and times any suspected changes in rhythm and notifies the assigned nurse immediately. (10%) When PCT 1 cross training and orientation has been completed, may render direct and indirect patient care under direction of appropriate licensed personnel. Facilitates care to meet patient's daily living activity needs by providing clerical, physical, emotional support. Provides personal self care and activity programs.
