The Telemetry Technician is responsible for the continuous monitoring, interpretation, communication and documentation of cardiac rhythms, rhythm components and telemetry indicators for multiple patients. The individual will view multiple patients’ electrocardiographic displays to monitor noninvasive cardiac activity of patients and notify appropriate healthcare personnel on variances in the electrocardiographic pattern. These monitoring requirements will apply to Marshfield Medical Center patients at remote facilities across the system. The Telemetry Technician is responsible for collaboration with clinical staff in order to establish appropriate communication with each site. The Telemetry Technician will be responsible for troubleshooting routine technical concerns with equipment and notifying biomedical equipment individuals for non-basic repairs.

  • Continuously monitor and interpret cardiac rhythms and telemetry indicators for multiple patients.
  • View electrocardiographic displays to monitor noninvasive cardiac activity.
  • Notify healthcare personnel of variances in electrocardiographic patterns.
  • Collaborate with clinical staff to establish communication with remote facilities.
  • Troubleshoot routine technical concerns with equipment.
  • Successful completion of the Electrocardiogram (ECG) course within three months of hire or a score of 85% or greater on the ECG challenge exam.
  • Department-specific certifications, licenses, or memberships may be required.
  • Completion of Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) or First Responder courses.
  • One year experience as a Telemetry/Monitor Technician.
  • One year experience with direct patient care.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification awarded by the American Heart Association (AHA) at time of hire.
  • Completion of a Monitor Technician certification.
  • Level 1 benefit package for positions listed as 30 hours per week or greater.
  • Level 2 benefit package for positions listed as 20 – 29 hours per week.
  • Non-benefited for positions listed as less than 19 hours per week.
