About The Position

Position Purpose: The Telemetry Technician provides ongoing observation and interpretation of cardiac rhythms; prepares and maintains telemetry records and maintains a functioning telemetry system. What you will do: Observes and interprets cardiac rhythms. Records ECG strips at designated intervals and as changes occur. Prints cardiac rhythm strips as needed. Notifies RN of all changes in rhythm and heart rate. Maintains telemetry records. Ensures proper functioning of telemetry system. Trouble shoots equipment problems. Updates Communication Board. Communicates with internal/external customers/colleagues in a courteous, positive, empathic, and professional manner. Displays excellent telephone etiquette. Speaks to everyone. Always communicates with care. Speaks calmly, clearly, and courteously. Stops and listens when a customer/colleague speaks. Communicates consistently with colleagues in a professional and respectful manner and accepts assignments willingly.

Requirements

  • Education: High school education or equivalent
  • Experience: Demonstrated competence working with patients is preferred.
  • Special Skills and Competencies: Communicates effectively.
  • Demonstrates ability to understand and follow direction.
  • Demonstrates responsiveness to needs of patients, families, peers and professional staff.
  • Demonstrates continuous application of proper body mechanics.
  • Ability to work flexible hours.
  • Demonstrates the ability to interpret cardiac rhythms.
  • Demonstrates basic computer skills
  • Must display proper telephone etiquette.
