About The Position

Stamford Health has an opportunity for a full-time Telemetry Monitoring Tech in Stamford! The Telemetry Monitor Technician provides on-going observation of cardiac monitors to the Registered Professional Nurses and doctors on the cardiac and med/surg units. The telemetry tech measures and interprets patients’ cardiac rhythms, notifies registered nurse and/or clinical team of any immediate life-threatening emergency and documents findings in the electronic medical record. Under the direction of the supervisor/designee, provides a variety of tasks that directly and indirectly support care to the adult, geriatric and, on occasion, the adolescent patients in accordance with the Division of Patient Care philosophy, policies, and procedures. Schedule: 7pm-8am 3 days a week including every other weekend. Must be able to work overnight and rotating weekends. Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Excellent communication skills in interacting with patients, staff, and visitors.
  • Basic reading, writing, and math abilities are required.
  • Previous nursing assistant, monitor technician, emergency medical technician, medical assistant, or patient care technician experience.

Responsibilities

  • Documents and interprets patient’s cardiac rhythms at regular intervals to identify dysrhythmias. This is evidenced by obtaining and interpreting baseline rhythm strip on each monitored patient.
  • Measures and documents accurately the PR and QRS intervals on new & existing patients electronically.
  • Communicates with registered nurse all arrhythmias and activates emergency notification system with any life-threatening rhythms.
  • Provides a safe, clean and orderly environment; contributing to efficient departmental operations in order to control cost and ensure productivity.
  • Communicates equipment malfunctions to the clinical engineering department, nurse manager or designee.
