Come work for North America Central where your skills are valued, and your contribution appreciated. Position Summary The Telematics Administrator orchestrates the digital heartbeat of the fleet. This role is responsible for configuring, maintaining, troubleshooting, and supporting all onboard technology systems that keep our buses safer, smarter, and in sync with the enterprise. This includes telematics devices, GPS systems, on-board tablets, driver cameras, student camera DVR integrations, wireless connectivity, and future technology expansions. The ideal candidate blends technical fluency with field practicality, ensuring every bus is equipped, connected, and performing as expected. They serve as a key liaison between IT, maintenance, operations, dispatch, and external vendors.

  • Administer, configure, and support all bus technology systems including telematics devices, driver cameras, tablets, DVIR/EDVIR equipment, Wi-Fi hotspots, and DVR integration hardware.
  • Maintain accurate technology inventories for every vehicle across all NACSB entities including device assignments, installations, serial numbers, status, and location.
  • Monitor device health, connectivity, and performance through vendor platforms.
  • Coordinate firmware updates, configuration changes, and new feature rollouts.
  • Support deployment planning for new hardware and technology refreshes.
  • Work with installation teams to ensure adherence to NACSB QC standards.
  • Validate that equipment installations meet operational and technical requirements.
  • Assist with site scheduling, logistics, and hardware tracking.
  • Serve as Tier 2/Tier 3 support for all bus technology issues escalated from sites.
  • Diagnose telematics, tablet, camera, and network failures; coordinate resolutions with vendors when necessary and coordinate repairs or replacements.
  • Track issues to closure and provide feedback to drive continuous process improvement.
  • Manage system settings, permissions, and integrations with enterprise systems (TMT, Bytecurve, routing software, etc.).
  • Validate that data (GPS, DVIR, mileage, faults, video, etc.) flows correctly to downstream systems.
  • Assist with data quality management and reporting needs.
  • Serve as the primary operational point of contact for telematics, camera, and hardware vendors.
  • Participate in vendor meetings, product evaluations, and escalation paths.
  • Communicate proactively with maintenance, dispatch, operations, and IT leadership.
  • Maintain and refine SOPs, installation guides, QC checklists, and troubleshooting workflows.
  • Ensure technology configurations align with safety, compliance, and legal standards.
  • Support audits and documentation requests related to bus technology.
  • Train site personnel on the use of telematics dashboards, camera portals, and onboard technology tools.
  • Develop reference materials, job aids, and knowledge articles.
  • 3–5 years of experience in IT, fleet technology, telematics, or related field.
  • Strong understanding of GPS systems, mobile devices, networked equipment, and cloud platforms.
  • Hands-on troubleshooting experience with hardware and software.
  • Ability to interpret wiring diagrams, installation schematics, and device configuration documents.
  • Excellent communication skills with both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
  • Experience with Samsara, Geotab, Zonar, Lytx, or similar platforms preferred.
  • Familiarity with school bus operations, DVIR/EDVIR workflows, maintenance systems (TMT), and routing software preferred.
  • Project coordination or vendor management experience desired.
