About The Position

Telecommunications Mechanic (FRCE-2025-24285): Bowhead is seeking an entry-level Telecommunications Mechanic to provide telecommunications operations and maintenance (O&M) support at Fleet Readiness Center East (FRC East), MCAS Cherry Point, North Carolina. This position supports voice and non-voice communications systems.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Entry-level; 1–2 years of experience preferred but not required.
• US citizenship (required for base access).
• Ability work in confined or elevated spaces.
• Familiarity with hand tools and safety protocols.
• Must adhere to safety, environmental, and quality standards at FRC East.
• Possession of a valid driver’s license; must be eligible to operate government vehicles.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
• Must be able to stand and walk for prolonged amounts of time
• Must be able to twist, bend and squat periodically
• Must be able to obtain a security clearance at the Confidential level.
• US Citizenship is a requirement for Confidential clearance at this location.

Nice To Haves

• Experience or coursework in electronics, structured cabling, or telecommunications systems is a plus.
• OSHA 10/30 Basic Telecommunications or Structured Cabling certifications

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, and repair voice/non-voice communications systems, including intercoms, public address systems, alarm systems, and key telephone systems.
• Run and terminate cabling for telephone sets and non-voice circuits, including coaxial, fiber optic, and copper cabling.
• Support the installation and servicing of terminal and communication equipment such as line drivers and teletype devices.
• Conduct routine troubleshooting of customer premise station equipment.
• Assist with testing, documentation, and inventory of telecom infrastructure and support systems.
• Work in varied environments, including ceilings, crawlspaces, tunnels, and equipment rooms.
