The Mission Critical Telecommunications Deputy Engineer Leader (DEL) is responsible for leading the design, coordination, and execution of complex telecommunications and infrastructure engineering solutions for data centers. This role combines technical expertise with developing leadership and mentoring capabilities to ensure the delivery of world-class, resilient, and scalable systems that support mission critical facilities and operations. The Deputy Engineering Leader will guide cross-functional engineering teams, ensure adherence to best practices, and drive innovation in structured cabling, active low voltage systems, and integrated infrastructure. This position requires a strategic thinker with hands-on experience in data center environments, strong communication skills, and a passion for mentoring the next generation of engineers.

  • Lead and oversee the engineering requirements throughout the project lifecycle (from concept through close-out) for mission-critical data center projects
  • Plan, execute, and deliver high-quality constructible engineering solutions for the project’s telecommunications systems
  • Coordinate with stakeholders across disciplines (Networking, AV, Security, MEP, Architecture) to ensure seamless integration of systems
  • Mentor and develop junior engineers and technical staff, fostering a culture of continuous learning and technical excellence
  • Identify and manage technical risks using Avoidance, Transference, Mitigation, and Acceptance strategies
  • Identify and develop solutions to complex engineering challenges that ensure compliance with industry codes and standards (NFPA, TIA)
  • Drive the production of engineering deliverables including product requirements, drawing packages, system labeling information, cabling and system acceptance test plans, field quality control documentation, etc.
  • Lead technical discussions with clients, project leadership, and field teams to define and align requirements, develop constructible solutions, and proactively address potential challenges before they impact project outcomes
  • Managing the integration of data from multiple company systems and analyzing the data to draw insights on project technical solutions
  • Champion engineering best practices, process improvements, and innovation in support of Communications infrastructure scalability and reliability
  • Ensure safety, quality, and compliance throughout the project lifecycle
  • Identifying, recommending, and implementing work process improvements
  • Reviewing technical project details with clients and project leadership

  • +5 years of experience (with a Bachelors in Engineering) OR +3 years of experience (with a Masters in Engineering) in any Division 25/26/27/28 discipline with an engineering focus, including at least 3 years in mission-critical or data center environments.
  • +1 years of leadership experience managing production teams on complex technical projects.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, BIM, Microsoft Office Suite, and other engineering documentation tools.
  • Experience with Bluebeam, SharePoint, Procore, Kahua, Autodesk Docs, and other engineering management tools.
  • Experience with AI infrastructure technologies and solutions (e.g. high-density fiber optic cabling solutions), Hot Aisle/Cold Aisle Containment systems, and EPMS/BMS network topology.
  • Knowledge of structured cabling systems, telecommunications infrastructure, and low voltage systems (e.g., CCTV, Fire Alarm, DAS, PA, Cable Television, etc.).
  • Familiarity with TIA standards, NFPA codes, and BICSI standards.
  • Knowledge of one or more Division 27 low voltage systems. Possesses the skills to define the system requirements and engineer a constructible solution. Has the ability to develop design documentation, support the implementation team, and commission the system.
  • BICSI RCDD or DCDC certification
  • Manufacturer certifications such as NVIDIA AI Infrastructure and Operations, Corning Fiber Design, Fluke Networks Certified Cabling Test Technician, etc.
