Incumbents of positions in this series analyze and review established telecommunications systems and agency requests for installation of telephone, teletype or telecommunications systems and equipment; inspect established telecommunications systems and installed equipment, conduct studies of load use; prepare charts and diagrams, and perform related work as required. The selected applicant for this position executes assignments for the installation, operation, maintenance and repair of the voice, data, video and software related to all MassDOT Communication, Electronic and Intelligent Traffic Systems; including, but not limited to: two-way radio, fiber optic, telephone private branch exchange, programmable logic controllers, tunnel ventilation, carbon monoxide and hydrocarbon gas monitoring, local field controllers, remote terminal units, overhead and portable variable message signs, emergency telephone, automatic gates, highway advisory radio, traffic and security video, security access control, integrated project control system, real-time traffic monitoring and any ancillary electronic equipment. Work with all MassDOT departments and agencies: electrical, maintenance, State Police, toll administration, RMV, MBTA, EMS, BFD, BPD, DCR, and various other personnel, to ensure continuous operation of all equipment. Responsible for providing technical support for all systems and equipment. Required to professionally interface with all departments involved in engineering, operation, and maintenance.
