Job Summary: The Critical Power Level 4 Technician is an expert in the critical power industry and has extensive experience with telecommunications, and utility power systems. This is a leadership position that will supervise and train less experienced technicians. A level 4 technician should be able to design custom power solutions and provide turnkey installations. Due to the energized electrical equipment (hot) work requirement of this position, safety must be of the highest importance. A major aspect of this position is to ensure the highest standards of quality and service. This position reports to the Regional Service Manager and does not have any direct reports.

Requirements

  • Education: AAS Degree / Tech School or equivalent work experience.
  • 10+ years of technician experience with DC Power equipment is required.
  • 5 years’ experience in lead technician role.
  • Experience in the telecom industry.
  • Strong communication, problem solving, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to organize his/her own work and work independently, with limited supervision.
  • Ability to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds and with diverse needs, and across remote offices.
  • Ability to clearly articulate ideas (both written and verbal) to both internal and external customers and to listen effectively to customer needs.
  • Ability to develop and maintain strong workplace relationships with an emphasis on customer satisfaction.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with other departments toward the greater good of the organization.
  • Ability to adapt to a fast-changing environment.
  • Traveling is extensive, up to 85% of the time, throughout the Northeast territory.
  • Willingness to work occasional overtime.
  • Must be able to pass a background check.
  • Must be able to pass a drug test.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Concentric Technicians may need to travel out of state to perform work. The Department of Transportation (DOT) has several requirements for drivers of commercial motor vehicles weighing less than 26,001 pounds who are driving across state lines, including:
  • Drivers must be at least 18 years old to drive "Intrastate". Drivers must be at least 21 years old to driver "Interstate".
  • Drivers must have a valid driver's license at all times.
  • Drivers must have a valid DOT medical card or the ability to obtain DOT medical card per DOT/FMCA guidelines during the hiring process. Drivers must continue to maintain their active medical card status throughout their employment.
  • Drivers must follow the DOT's HOS regulations.
  • Drivers must be able to obtain a CDL in order to drive commercial motor vehicles or combination vehicles weighing more than 26,000 lbs.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in material handling environment is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Interact with people from all organizational levels, both inside and outside the company.
  • Provide the highest quality of service possible to assure customer satisfaction.
  • Timely reporting of all activities including service reports, expense reports, and maintenance reports to the customer.
  • Being directly responsible for company assets, including a service vehicle, parts inventory, tools and test equipment.
  • Functions with little direct supervision.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
  • Perform the following work operations or job activities without supervision or direction:
  • Addition or removal of common systems equipment hardware, including batteries.
  • Addition or removal of wiring and connections.
  • Lead verification/continuity testing.
  • Analysis of job specifications and drawings.
  • Provide work assignments to Skill Level 1, 2 and 3 Installers.
  • Prepare a Method of Procedure (MOP).
  • Resolve job specification and/or drawing problems.
  • Mark/correct office record drawings.
  • In-process and final quality inspections.
  • Circuit modifications
  • Software additions or upgrades
  • Power transition work (“hot ties”)
  • Supervise and complete Telecom Central Office, Headend, MTSO and/or Regen, Switchgear equipment / battery Installations.
  • Perform Site Assessments for new and existing DC Power Systems. Assessments define the necessary equipment, materials, and labor to fulfill the customer’s requests. The Assessments are provided to Account Managers and/or Sales Team in support of their project quotations.
  • Troubleshoot and repair power system components by gaining a complete understanding of the electrical operation of the latest module technologies. Install DC Power System in customer locations.
  • Perform preventive maintenance activities on critical power systems and equipment.
  • Supervise site Installation teams and/or Subcontractors.
  • Provide daily status updates to the Service Manager for all projects that they are leading.
  • Responsible for reviewing customer inquiries, specifications, and engineering data and recommending products and services to suit their requirements.
  • Responsible to maintain all company vehicles, inventory, tools, and equipment
  • Responsible for approving and completion of all work orders, expense reports, PM worksheets and any documentation as requested.
  • Building strong relationships with customers by presenting a professional appearance, speaking positively about our company, our suppliers, and our fellow employees. Being sure to promote company products, suggestive selling and solving customer complaints and problems.
