The Southern Telecom Foreman is an exempt position responsible for managing and directing telecom crews at jobsites.

Any combination of education and experience that provides the knowledge and abilities listed qualifies.
3 or more years’ experience as a Foreman in the telecom industry.
High School Diploma or GED.

Ability to lift, pull, and push up to 75 lbs.
Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, reach, squat twist, and climb heavy equipment several times throughout the day.
Ability to balance at heights up to 6 feet from ground level.
Ability to be on your feet regularly and use hands, arms, and legs repeatedly on the job.
Frequently walking on sloped ground and slippery and uneven surfaces.
Working in confined areas.
Ability to climb on and off heavy equipment safely.
Capable of being certified to enter confined spaces, including climbing into and out of excavations, using ladders or crawling, as required.
Ability to perform essential tasks in less than favorable conditions (strenuous work in varying temperatures, humidity, sand, wind, or other extreme inclement weather conditions for extended periods of time).
Work may be performed in an environment with exposure to extremely hot materials, fuel fumes, vapors, dust, grease and oils, as well as loud and/or constant noise and exposure to moving equipment.
Ability to travel up to 2 hours in any direction or weekly travel for further locations if necessary.
Undergo and pass pre-employment screening, including a drug test prior to beginning work.

Responsibilities

Directly supervises the telecom crews.
Read and understand project plans and specification.
Reports on work to Senior Project Manager.
Knowledge and/or experience on all types of heavy equipment to ensure safe use of equipment and training.
Knowledgeable in the areas of telecom utility, including excavation, directional boring, cable plowing, aerial specifications and splicing.
Inspects work sites throughout construction process to ensure the quality and accuracy of work for potential hazards or safety concerns.
Monitors crews for organizational structure, sizing, crew mix ratios, and wage compliance in conjunction with Superintendent.
Complete required reports (production, personnel time and attendance, vehicle, safety, inspection) on a daily/weekly basis as required.
Monitor operations to ensure that health and safety standards are met.
