Abdominal/GU, Breast Imaging, Cardiovascular, General, Interventional, Musculoskeletal, Neuroradiology, and Authorized User (AU) Radiology Physician Services on site in accordance with the specifications contained herein to beneficiaries of the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA)

Requirements

  • Shall have a current license to practice medicine in any state, territory, or commonwealth of the United States or the District of Columbia. All licenses held by the key personnel shall be full and unrestricted licenses. Physicians who have current, full and unrestricted licenses in one or more states, but who have, or ever had, a license restricted, suspended, revoked, voluntarily revoked, voluntarily surrendered pending action or denied upon application will not be considered for the purposes of this requirement. All licenses held by Physician must be current and in good standing.
  • Shall be Board Certified per the American Board of Radiology ( http://www.theabr.org/ ) or Board eligible. All continuing education courses required for maintaining certification must be kept up to date at all times.

Responsibilities

  • Providing general and interventional Radiology procedures, including Diagnostic Radiology, Ultrasound, Computed Tomography (CT), Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), Nuclear Medicine (Nuc Med), and Interventional Radiography (IR).
  • Providing consultation with and instruction to referring physicians regarding appropriate indications for general, ultrasound, CT, MRI, nuc med, and IR radiologic procedures.
  • Determining the appropriate course of treatment and communicate in person or by phone with the referring clinicians.
  • Providing review of consults/orders and next- day patient cases for minimum of two hours daily.
  • Providing post-procedure evaluation and follow-up and clinical consultation regarding complications of interventional radiologic procedures.
  • Providing discharge education and follow up instructions that are coordinated with the next care setting for all emergency department patients.
  • Preparing for, attending and take care of follow up activities resulting from specialized meetings.
  • Following all established patient safety and infection control standards of care.
  • Documenting all events related to patient injury, medication errors, and other breeches of patient safety in the medical record of those impacted and disclosed to the patient or surrogate.
