About The Position

The Virtual Registered Nurse (Virtual RN) at Virtua Health plays a crucial role in delivering high-quality, patient-centered care through virtual technology. This position supports the coordination of care for patients across various Virtua hospitals, utilizing remote tools to assist bedside nurses and ensure comprehensive care. The Virtual RN is responsible for assessing patient needs, providing education, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to enhance patient outcomes.

Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of acute care nursing experience; 7 years preferred.
• Excellent communication, assessment, and clinical judgment skills are required.
• Graduate of an accredited nursing program; BSN preferred.
• Current State of New Jersey nursing license to practice as a registered nurse.
• Current CPR certification (BLS); relevant certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Completes non-physical admission process of patients via virtual conference, including assessments and medication lists.
• Regularly examines patient chart information to assess conditions and report changes to the primary nurse and care team.
• Uses virtual tools to assess emotional responses of patients and their families to illness, incorporating them into the care plan.
• Participates in discharge preparation via virtual conference, providing education on self-care and home medications.
• Educates patients and families through active teaching during virtual conferences, explaining medical conditions and treatment plans.
• Assesses patient environments for safety risks and compliance with regulatory standards through virtual applications.
• Manages evidence-based practices and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance patient care quality.
• Identifies clinical deterioration indicators and consults with the care team for intervention measures.
• Recognizes and responds to crisis situations virtually, notifying appropriate individuals as needed.
• Mentors and supports clinical nurses as necessary, utilizing patient chart information for remote rounding.
• Consults with a multidisciplinary care team to coordinate and deliver holistic treatment plans for patients.
• Maintains clinical competencies and readiness to provide bedside care when required.
• Ensures compliance with confidentiality standards, adhering to HIPAA and PHI regulations in remote work.
• Promotes professional nursing practice and team engagement within the healthcare team.
