About The Position

Easterseals West Kentucky, Inc. is searching for a seasonal/summer time Direct Support Professional (DSP) for our Teen Program (Ages 13-17). As a direct support professional working in our Teen Program, you will work in partnership with individuals towards activities that build each individual's skillset as well as create natural supports amongst their peers. This includes, but is not limited to participation in skill building classes, art projects, volunteering, community outings and much more!

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent
• Previous experience required (Caregiving: 1 year preferred)
• Ability to multi-task and manage a variety of projects and goals
• Highly organized and detail oriented
• Must be a citizen of the United States and possess a valid driver's license
• Able to pass a pre-employment background check and drug screen

Responsibilities

• Provides direct care to those with intellectual and developmental disabilities
• Promote health, safety and well-being of individuals
• Maintains an awareness and ability to access information relating to an individual
• Assistance with activities of daily living
• Guidance on life skills
• Planning, leading and coordinating social and recreational activities
• Develop and organize group trips
• Transports persons served, as needed, to community activities
• Monitors safety of individuals served and immediately reports and documents injuries, accidents and incidents following appropriate procedures
