About The Position

The Teen Empowerment Advisor will provide direct services to youth between the ages of 11-18. The Teen Empowerment Advisor is responsible for the following: KEY ROLES (Essential Job Responsibilities): Responsible for planning, organizing, and implementing year-round programs for youth Prepare youth to complete the program successfully Provide ongoing case management services for youth Maintain the youth's case management records up to date Coordinate to schedule an intake/ orientation with youth and parents/guardians Conduct initial intake/orientation and survey for youth entering the program Conduct follow-up calls to youth and parents/guardians who stop attending Monitor community services schedule and youth attendance log Assist the youth in completing their community service hours set by the referral source Encourage family involvement to increase youth retention Conduct follow-up calls to youth who completed the program successfully to increase youth retention Refer the youth to relevant service partners to support the youth Entering data into Excel tracking sheets of youth information and surveys Responsible for recruiting new youth from all middle schools and high schools in Oxnard and Port Hueneme Represent the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Oxnard & Port Hueneme as a liaison with schools and district staff Coordinate meetings with school staff, including the principal, with the Director of the Brent’s Club Program Coordinate to implement Brent’s Club Program at the local middle schools and high schools in Oxnard and Port Hueneme Involved in community events to market the BGCOP Programs Perform all other business, educational, and community outreach duties as assigned ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Participate in training and staff meetings 2. Work an irregular work schedule when necessary 3. Driving from the Teen Center to off-site locations 4. Perform other duties as directed RELATIONSHIPS: Internal: Maintains close, daily contact with Club staff (professional and volunteers) and supervisor to receive/provide information, discuss issues, explain guidelines/ instructions, instruct, and advise/counsel youth. External: Maintains contact with external community groups, schools, youths' parents, and others to assist youth.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in social services, counseling or related field
  • Ability to motivate youth
  • Ability to deal with the general public
  • Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing
  • Demonstrated record of case management, planning and organizational skills
  • Ability to deal with at-risk youth by using non-traditional delivery methods
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, youth, and other people encountered in the course of work
  • Valid State Driver’s License
  • Supervise a group of youth and coordinate activities.
  • A majority of time will be spent standing.
  • Moderate lifting will be required from time to time.
