About The Position

The Teen Camp Director plays a key leadership role in creating a safe, engaging, and memorable summer experience for children. This position oversees daily operations at an assigned camp site, leads and supports seasonal staff, ensures high-quality programming, and builds positive relationships with participants and families. Requirements

  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Previous leadership experience in youth programs, camps, or related settings.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, participants, parents, and the public.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills.
  • Ability to adapt to changing needs and respond appropriately to unexpected situations.
  • Commitment to participant safety and well-being, with a strong understanding of child development and best practices.

Responsibilities

  • Lead daily operations of a summer camp site to ensure smooth, safe, and high-quality programming
  • Design and implement engaging, age-appropriate activities and experiences
  • Train, supervise, guide, and evaluate camp staff and volunteers
  • Maintain a safe camp environment by enforcing safety policies and emergency procedures
  • Conduct routine inspections and proactively address hazards
  • Communicate regularly with parents/guardians, staff, and supervisors
  • Prepare schedules, reports, payroll information, newsletters, and required documentation
  • Manage program supplies, equipment, and budget responsibilities
  • Maintain accurate records including attendance, incident reports, and participant files
  • Respond to unexpected situations with professionalism, adaptability, and sound judgment
  • Uphold Park District policies related to safety, confidentiality, equal opportunity, and harassment prevention
