About The Position

Edward Jones is seeking a talented leader and data modeler to lead a team of data modelers who will assist with the analysis, design, and implementation of information solutions. As a team leader you will plan, direct, and lead a team of associates and contractors. To ensure success as a data modeling team leader, you should have experience in leading data management professionals and have knowledge of 3NF and dimensional logical data modeling methods as well as excellent communication skills. As a team leader you will direct and coach our data modeling team and work to improve data quality, reduce data redundancy, streamline data movements, and improve enterprise information management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a similar field preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience directly related to Information Systems technology with at least 3 years in a leadership role (mentoring associates, lead analyst, project leaders, etc.) preferred.
  • Must have a minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience with 3NF logical, dimensional, and physical data modeling.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Knowledge of: Metadata management and related tools.
  • Relational and document database technologies.
  • Knowledge of business processes, business system interactions, infrastructure dependencies, system controls, monitoring, etc.
  • Understanding of Agile Methodologies and system development methodologies and processes within IS (change management, QA, Project Life Cycle, etc.)
  • Able to appropriately react to system availability issues while leading team resources with appropriate urgency
  • Able to look at business objectives and provide solutions to problems that align to the firm's objectives.
  • Team Leader must be able to professionally respond to escalations from other teams.
  • Team Leaders must be able to lead escalations within the team. These escalations will vary in complexity and often impact other areas.
  • Daily decisions made can impact on the entire firm's technology availability, performance, and ability to meet the customer's needs (approving system changes, code promotions, etc.).
  • Team Leaders have a medium impact on strategic decisions.
  • Duration of impact is normally short-term, immediate effect; most decisions will be executed within a few hours or days.
  • Typically, responsible for 8 or more associates and/or contractors.

Nice To Haves

  • Business process modeling is preferred.
  • Physical data modeling for document stores is preferred.
  • Experience with ERWIN preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Align team activities, strategies, responsibilities, proposed design solutions and objectives with Edward Jones strategic direction.
  • Provide leadership, development, and coaching to associates through examples and timely feedback.
  • Develop and execute on-going improvements for processes related to the team.
  • Support solutioning efforts by ensuring they receive the appropriate data modeling support.
  • Manages and develops self while internalizing leadership feedback.
  • Understanding of the team's systems, processes and technologies. Create automation or bring in AI where helpful and evolve data modeling.
  • Establish and maintain effective communications and relationships across teams, departments, countries, vendors and other divisions. Market Data Modeling to groups at all levels, business partners, Product Management and delivery teams.
  • Build OKRs with peer leaders, survey groups for feedback and measure results.
  • Ensure prudent use of the firm's financial resources.
  • Establish and maintain effective relationships with vendors.
