About The Position

The Technology Support Technician will provide essential first-level technical support to teachers and staff at Virginia Beach City Public Schools. This role is crucial in ensuring that all technology-related issues are addressed promptly and effectively, allowing educators to focus on their primary responsibilities. The technician will be responsible for adhering to the Department of Technology (DOT) standards and directives, ensuring that all tasks are completed in compliance with established protocols. In this position, the technician will serve as an advisor to school staff, assisting with general technical issues and providing ongoing support to both staff and students. Responsibilities include troubleshooting and repairing minor computer and peripheral equipment problems, managing accounts for select instructional applications, and supporting users with network access issues. The technician will also be involved in the installation and customization of new computers, ensuring that all necessary software and drivers are properly configured. Additionally, the technician will document all work performed, enter requests for new services, and maintain technology inventory records. Collaboration with staff on software purchases and serving as a liaison with division technical support staff and vendors are also key components of this role. The technician will prepare technology for online testing and participate in ongoing training as required by the DOT or school principal. This position may also involve performing other technology-related duties as assigned, making it a dynamic and integral part of the school's technology support team.
