You’ll work closely with staff across the agency, other IT staff, and IT leadership to ensure KPERS technology systems remain stable, secure, and well-supported. What You’ll Do Technical Support & Troubleshooting Resolve Incidents: Act as the primary point of contact for resolving hardware, peripheral, and software issues for local and remote workstations. Software Proficiency: Provide guidance and 'just-in-time' training to users on the functionality of agency-standard software and hardware. External Connectivity: Assist external employers and members with troubleshooting connectivity issues related to KPERS web portals. Deployment & Lifecycle Management Workstation Provisioning: Build, configure, and deploy new workstations according to agency standards, ensuring all required software and security settings are applied. Asset Management: Maintain a precise inventory of all hardware and software assets, including the management of the equipment check-out process. Network, Security & Policy Identity Management: Administer user accounts via Active Directory, including password resets, account unlocking, and permission adjustments. Security Compliance: Develop and maintain IT security policies; lead annual security awareness training for existing staff and onboarding sessions for new hires. Administrative Support: Assist the Network and Security teams with research and resolution of broader infrastructure issues as required. Telecom & Board Room Operations Communications Support: Serve as the primary lead for desktop and mobile telephony, including device setup, security configuration, and physical wiring documentation (drops and extensions). Executive Support: Maintain the KPERS Board Room technology suite. Ensure the room is operationally ready for all meetings and provide 'live' technical assistance during Board proceedings.

Requirements

  • Proficiency in supporting Microsoft Windows environments and Active Directory.
  • Proven ability to translate complex technical concepts into understandable language for non-technical users.
  • Ability to independently research emerging technical issues and propose effective hardware/software solutions.
  • A strong commitment to customer service, teamwork, and maintaining positive working relationships under pressure.
  • Ability to lift, carry, and install PC equipment.
  • Six months of experience in advising and assisting computer users in a distributed computing environment.
  • Or associates degree or certification in Computer Science or a related field with three months of experience in advising and assisting computer users in a distributed computing environment
